Hottest shaft on tour now available

The winner of the 2012 U.S. Senior Open Championship Roger Chapman used Nippon Shaft MODUS 3 Tour 120 X-flex steel shafts in his irons en-route to a two-stroke victory at Indianwood Golf & Country Club in Lake Orion, Mich. It was the second major championship victory for the native Englishman, who also won the Senior PGA – using the same Nippon Shafts – last month in Benton Harbor, Mich.

The 53-year-old champion shot a 4-under par 66 in the final round Sunday to outlast some of the bigger names in the game at Indianwood. For the championship he shot 68-68-68-66 for a 10-under par total of 270 at a course that has hosted two recent U.S. Women’s Opens and the 1930 Western Open.

“I wanted to prove to myself and to other people that Benton Harbor wasn’t a one-off event,” said the champion, who hit 83 percent of his greens in regulation, third-best in the field and by far his best statistical showing for the week.

A number of touring pros – including former Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup team members – are playing versions of the MODUS3 shafts in PGA and European PGA tournaments this year. The Tour 120 model weighs between 114 and 126 grams and comes in S, X, and Tour X flex options.
