Mum wins the Olive Wood Matchplay

Windermere Golf Club finals weekend took place on 10th and 11th of September. This wet and windy weekend saw the finals of all the years Matchplay tournaments played along with the Strokeplay Medal of Medals event for all the winners of the years previous monthly medals.

My Mum played in the Olive Wood Matchplay Championship and after a great start she found herself 4 up after just 6 holes. However a shaky 7th and 8th along with an unfortunate 3 putt on the 9th hole meant mum made the turn just 1 hole up.

A great up and down on the Par 3 10th helped mum get back to 2 up and then some solid golf from the 10th hole culminated in a 3&2 victory with a 2 putt on the Par 5 16th green.

Mum has been working this season on the Gravity Golf ‘No Reference’ drill along with the ‘Par 18′ short game practice exercise. The ‘No Reference’ drill has improved Mum’s accuracy off the tee and we will be working on the ‘Front Route’ drill to increase her distance over the off-season.

The rest of the focus has been on the short game with ‘Par 18′ becoming a favourite for both my Mum and Dad. Both have seen their up and down percentage increase.

If you have any questions on how these exercise could help you game please get in contact with me, I would be delighted to help.
