Rose prevails at The Blue Monster

It was to be an interesting evening in Doral, Miami on Sunday. Watson had a three shot lead going into the final round, however many of the world’s best golfers hadn’t given up the title just yet.

Watson began the round with some wild driving and if it weren’t for some excellent putting he would have been out the tournament after just three holes. Tiger who was in the chasing pack started with a poor par at the first, which had been birdied or eagled by just about the whole of the field. However, this was the least of Tigers worries as he was soon to be seen limping. At change of shoes at the turn didn’t help and Tiger with drew from the tournament on the 12th hole. The cameras focused on Tiger leaving the course despite the fact there was some interesting golf being played.

After Watson surrendered the lead he began to play much better golf. McIlroy eagled the 12 to light up the spectators and to get within a couple of shots. However, Rose had played the steadiest goal of the day and had taken the tournament by the scruff of its neck.

Rose had a two shot lead stood on the daunting 18th tee. But after a poor drive he was only able to make a bogey. This meant Watson needed to make a three on the toughest hole of the course to force a play-off. This looked unlikely when his drive clattered into the crowd, however a superb second shot to just a few feet meant that rose had to sweat it out a little longer.

Watson hit a less than average put which really summed up his whole day, this left Rose with the title and his fourth win in 18 months. Rose leaves Miami in a great position with the Masters only a few weeks away.

In contrast all of Tigers good work so far this season could go to waste with this new injury. He tweeted that his scam showed he may be able to play at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. If this is the case then he should be able to play in the Master the only major he has not missed since his 1995 debut.
